Topic: Those Who Fought
It’s the one event when we can all sit back and let the fun come to us! Last year’s Forgotten History Seminar was a smash success. I encourage attendees to buy early to reserve your seat. This year we look into the common British soldier, Washignton's aides de camp and Nathanael Greene "the strategist of the AMerican Revolution."
Panel Expert: Don Hagist, Don’s specific areas of expertise includes British operations in Rhode Island, wives of British soldiers, and the service of the 22nd Regiment of Foot (the Cheshire Regiment) in America. http://redcoat76.blogspot.com Don will be discussing the demographics of British soldiers, the men in a single regiment, their nationalities, ages, length of military service, occupations before joining the army, and what happened to them after the war. His analysis starts by looking at the regiment as a whole, and gradually "zooming in" to details on a few individual soldiers.
Panel Expert: Arthur Lefkowitz, has three previous award-winning titles include Bushnell's Submarine and serves on the Board of Governors of the American Revolution Round Table. http://www.savasbeatie.com/authors/lefkowitz.htm Arthur will discuss Washington’s aides-de-camp. He will draw a connection Washington’s aides and the subtle ties between Nathaniel Greene who followed Washington's example and shared his beliefs about what an aide should be.
Key Note: Janet Uhler, Author, lecturer, screenplay writer -- Janet’s genre is rarely seen. http://www.janetuhlar.com/
Janet will be discussing how Nathanael Greene has yet to take his appropriate place of honor as a founding father whose decisions and actions were pivotal to the establishment of these United States. Though properly referred to as the ‘strategist of the American Revolution’, even that forgotten title does not offer a true picture of his importance. He was in truth, thrice the savior of the Continental Army.
Be sure to buy your tickets! May 18th , 1-5pm at the David Library of the American Revolution. Tickets are on sale for $20 per ticket. Included is the 3 hour seminar, free parking and a reception where guests will be treated to complimentary cocktails and snacks.
